How Much Does a Health Screening in Guangzhou Cost? A Real Price Breakdown
The number, up front
Most sites in this business make you fill in a form to learn a price. Here it is. These are our published example prices, and they are the same numbers on our plans page — the hospital confirms the final total in writing after the booking deposit and before paying the balance.
- Classic — USD 518 for men, USD 558 for women. Around 3 hours, report in about 3 days
- Fast-Track — USD 708. From 2 hours, results the same day
- Prestige — USD 848. Adds chest CT and brain MRI
- Additional cardiovascular, digestive or imaging examinations are quoted separately after assessment
- Booking takes a fixed USD 49.9 deposit by PayPal, which counts toward the total — the hospital confirms everything else in writing right after
- Why prices are called examples: the hospital decides what is appropriate after assessment. If it removes an item or adds one, the total moves, and you see the revised figure in writing before you commit
Where the money actually goes
A screening price is two things stacked together, and providers who hide the split are usually hiding the size of one of them.
- Hospital and examination fees — the largest share. This is what the hospital charges for the tests themselves, and it is set by the hospital, not by us
- Coordination — booking, interpretation, someone walking you between departments, transport on the day, report delivery and referral help if a finding needs it
- Optional additions — anything you or the hospital add after assessment. These change the total and are quoted before they are booked
- What does not sit in the price: any treatment arising from a finding. A screening tells you something; acting on it is a separate decision with a separate cost
What separates USD 518 from USD 848
The honest answer is imaging. The blood work barely differs between tiers — what you are buying as the number climbs is a look inside.
- Both tiers include: general examination, full blood count, urine and stool, liver and kidney panels, lipids, fasting glucose, HbA1c, thyroid function, tumour markers, resting ECG and chest X-ray
- Classic (USD 518/558) adds: cardiac and multi-area ultrasound, echocardiography, thyroid ultrasound, transcranial Doppler, intraocular pressure and body composition. Women's scope adds pelvic and breast ultrasound and three further tumour markers, which is why it is USD 40 more
- Prestige (USD 848) adds: chest CT, brain MRI, carotid ultrasound, an expanded marker panel, C13 breath test, bone density and one optional wellness service
- The practical read: if you want a broad annual check, Selected is the one. If you have a specific worry — a smoking history, headaches, family history — the CT and MRI in Premium are the reason to move up, not the extra blood tests
- Going up a tier is not automatically better. A hospital may tell you an MRI adds nothing for your situation, and we would rather you heard that before paying for it
How this compares with Bangkok, Singapore and the US
Every figure below is published by the provider or a public compilation, and is linked. Local currency is the real number; USD is approximate, converted at roughly THB 36 and SGD 1.28 to USD 1, August 2026. Rates move, so check before you decide anything on them.

- United States — executive physical. Widely reported at USD 2,500–10,000, with named academic programmes quoted from USD 3,000 to 25,000. These come from industry guides rather than hospital price lists, because US providers rarely publish these figures — treat them as an order of magnitude, not a quote
- The comparison that does not flatter us: at the entry tier, Bangkok is not more expensive. Bumrungrad's Executive package at about USD 450 sits within USD 70 of our Classic at USD 518. Anyone telling you China is dramatically cheaper than Thailand for a basic screening is selling something
- Where the gap is real: what fits inside the same money. Bumrungrad's Executive tier is labs, chest X-ray and a resting ECG. At USD 518 our Classic also includes echocardiography, thyroid and multi-area ultrasound and transcranial Doppler. In Singapore the equivalent ultrasound-inclusive tier is Executive, roughly USD 1,025
- And at the imaging end: our Prestige at USD 848 includes chest CT and brain MRI. The nearest Raffles tier that includes an MRI is Elite, roughly USD 1,615. That gap is the one worth flying for; the entry-tier gap is not
What the price does not include
A cheap headline number usually means something has been moved outside it. Here is what sits outside ours, deliberately and permanently.
- Flights, visas and accommodation. We do not mark these up because we do not sell them
- Any treatment, procedure or medication that follows from a finding. If a screening turns something up, the next step is priced separately by the hospital
- Examinations the hospital adds after assessing you, unless you agree to them first
- Anything unrelated to the screening — dental work, cosmetic procedures, second opinions on records from home
- One thing that is included and often is not elsewhere: interpretation and someone physically with you. In a large Chinese public hospital that is not a luxury, it is the difference between a three-hour visit and a lost morning
When you actually pay
This is the part we would ask about first if we were the customer, because it is where medical travel goes wrong most often.
- Booking takes a fixed USD 49.9 deposit, paid securely by PayPal — no wire transfer, no passport and no medical records at this stage
- The deposit counts toward your total. You then receive the hospital, examination list, date, total and cancellation terms in writing before you travel
- If we cannot confirm a suitable hospital slot after payment, the deposit is refunded in full
- The remaining balance — your total minus the USD 49.9 deposit — is paid on-site after the examinations, accompanied visit and transport are done
- Why this matters: the standard ask in this industry is an uncapped wire transfer before you fly, to a company you have never met, in a country you are not in yet. A fixed USD 49.9 card payment through PayPal — refundable if we cannot confirm your booking, and covered by PayPal's own buyer protections — is a structural difference, not a promotion
- Reports are delivered when the hospital issues them. They are never held back as leverage for the balance
How to not overpay, here or anywhere
Five questions that expose most of the padding in this market. Ask us the same ones — if the answers are vague, that is information too.
- "Which hospital, by name?" Ask when the hospital will be named and what happens if it cannot be confirmed. With us, written confirmation follows the booking deposit; if a suitable slot cannot be confirmed, the deposit is refunded in full
- "Can I see the itemised examination list?" Packages inflate by adding cheap tests to lengthen the list. Count the imaging, not the line items
- "Is this the total, or the deposit?" A low headline figure is often a booking fee with the hospital's bill still to come
- "What happens to the price if the hospital changes the plan?" The answer should be that you see a revised written total and can decline
- "What are the cancellation terms in writing?" Verbal flexibility is worth nothing once you have paid
- Do not buy the longest list. A screening that matches your age, history and actual concerns beats a bigger one that does not. More tests also mean more incidental findings, and chasing those costs money and sleep
Before your visit
Whether you use us or not, get these in writing first. It takes one message and it is the whole difference between a price and a quote.
- The hospital name and the address you are actually going to
- The confirmed examination list, with the imaging named specifically
- The total, in one currency, with a note on what would change it
- The preparation instructions from the hospital, including the fasting window
- The cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms — ours are on the policies page
- A screening is not a diagnosis and not emergency care. The hospital decides whether an examination is appropriate and may recommend a different route after clinical review. For anything urgent, use emergency services rather than a booking form
